Supporting Young People Into Adulthood: Our Post-16 Offer
Keys provides a flexible, supportive Post-16 offer designed to help young people gain the skills, confidence, and qualifications they need for adulthood.

Introducing our Post-16 Support
We support learners across the UK who require a personalised route into further education, training, or employment.
Our nationwide team understands that every young person’s journey is different. By combining Functional Skills qualifications with tailored preparation and guidance, we help learners take the next step with clarity and confidence.
Functional Skills Qualifications
Functional Skills Qualifications
Keys provides Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level 3 to Level 2 in English and Mathematics. These qualifications are widely recognised by colleges, training providers, and employers, offering young people a practical, accessible route to achieving essential skills.
Functional Skills are ideal for learners who may not thrive in traditional exam pathways or who need a structured, supportive environment to demonstrate what they can do. Every young person is assessed to determine the right starting point, and we ensure the process is clear, calm, and confidence-building.
Clear guidance and personalised planning
Our Post-16 offer goes beyond exams. We help young people understand their options and build the skills needed for their next steps. Support can include:
-
Developing English and Maths skills for everyday life and work
-
Preparing for college, apprenticeships, or training
-
Building confidence, motivation, and independence
-
Strengthening communication and problem-solving abilities
-
Creating structured routines and positive learning habits
Every programme is tailored to the individual, ensuring the support feels relevant, achievable, and meaningful.

How to Access Our Post-16 Offer
Referrals can be made by schools, local authorities, children’s homes, social workers, or parents and carers. Our Post-16 pathways and Functional Skills exams are available nationwide, including privately funded options.
Here’s how it works:
-
Initial Enquiry
The process begins with an enquiry to our Post-16 and Qualifications Team. We gather essential information about the young person, their education history, and their goals for further education, training, or employment.
This helps us recommend the most suitable qualification level and support package.
-
Assessment
We then arrange an initial assessment to establish the young person’s current level in English and Maths. This assessment allows us to identify strengths, learning gaps, and any support required to prepare for Functional Skills qualifications.
Following the assessment, we outline the recommended pathway and timescales.
-
Accessing the Post-16 Programme
Once the assessment is complete, we register the young person and create a personalised plan that aligns with their future ambitions. This may include preparation for Functional Skills exams, confidence-building sessions, or structured support to help them transition into adulthood.
Progress is regularly reviewed, with clear goals in place to help the learner succeed and move confidently into the next stage of education or training.
