Tourmaline Residential Service is celebrating after being awarded an Outstanding Review in their recent Ofsted Inspection. The Home provides specialist care and accommodation for children and young people who have complex health needs relating to learning and physical disabilities.
Ofsted commented that the young people receive exceptional care from staff who are dedicated, attentive and highly sensitive to their needs. A social worker complimented staff at Tourmaline for ‘their ability to transform personal care into a relaxing and enriching experience, which enables the children to feel pampered and adored’.
During the inspection, staff at the home were also praised for the strong relationships they build with the children and effort they go to seek their views, wishes and feelings – supporting choice and influencing young people’s daily lives. The children were observed demonstrating their happiness through ‘broad smiles and frequent laughter’, with their ‘faces lighting up when they hear staff’s voices and feel their presence and touch.’ Ofsted continued to comment ‘Staff know the children very well.’
The home was also praised for swift reactions to any signs of distress in the young people, offering comfort and support as well as seeking immediate, urgent medical advice when needed.
Tourmaline Manager, Chrissy Towers commented “We are delighted to receive an Outstanding Inspection from Ofsted another year running. I am immensely proud of the team here and their dedication to the young people we support. Having this formally recognised and recorded by Ofsted is always a fantastic achievement.”
