A RESIDENTIAL children’s home which has helped young people make “significant” progress has been graded “outstanding” by Ofsted.
Lower Lodge is part of Keys Group and supports young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. In their latest report, inspectors praised the “warm and nurturing” care provided by staff and the positive outcomes children achieve “in all areas of their lives”.
Transition planning and preparing children for independence were praised as being key strengths of Lower Lodge, with inspectors noting that two young people were supported to gain permanent jobs before moving on from the home.
One young person had been supported to positively move back to their family home while the progress of others meant they were set to move into foster placements, the report said.
During the pandemic, the home’s staff had gone “above and beyond” in their support of the children, inspectors said. This included the team temporarily moving in to the home when isolation was needed due to positive tests. This, the report said, “provided stability and consistency and gave children a sense of shared experiences with the staff caring for them.” Inspectors concluded: “Children receive outstanding care and support at this home.”
David Manson, CEO of Keys Group, said: “The team at Lower Lodge should be rightly proud of this fantastic achievement. They consistently help children and young people make wonderful progress and achieve their goals and thoroughly deserve their outstanding judgement.”
