Supporting Learners Through Trauma-Informed, Personalised Education
Keys Engage provides the earliest stabilising input, forming the foundation from which learners can progress seamlessly into any other Keys offering in education, training or employment.

Keys Inclusion Pathways offer a range of trauma-informed and technology-enabled education opportunities. For those learners who cannot currently access traditional or specialist schools, they take education ‘beyond the classroom’, delivering personalised learning designed to help children re-engage with education safely, confidently and sustainably.

Keys Engage is a core part of Keys Inclusion Pathways. Designed for learners affected by trauma, disrupted education and unmet SEMH needs, Keys Engage provides a trauma-informed, relational and developmentally aligned model of education. This highly personalised, in-person programme supports learners who have become disconnected from formal schooling and recognises that emotional safety, trust and belonging must be firmly in place before meaningful learning can occur.
Grounded in developmental and educational theory, Keys Engage focuses on helping young people rebuild the foundations necessary for learning: stability, confidence, motivation and a sense of connection. Drawing on principles including attachment, social learning and psychosocial development, the programme offers a structured framework for gradually re-establishing engagement.
The programme is organised around nine developmental domains, guiding learners from safety and regulation through to independence and reintegration. Therapeutic support is embedded throughout, and academic learning is delivered alongside AQA-accredited Unit Awards to ensure progress is measurable, meaningful and reflective of real understanding and application.

Keys Engage is for learners who, for complex reasons, are unable to sustain attendance or engagement in mainstream or specialist settings, including:
Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
Extended absence from education
Multiple exclusions or placement breakdowns
Complex trauma or attachment difficulties
Significant safeguarding concerns
Neurodiversity such as ASD, ADHD or SEMH profile
Mental-health vulnerabilities or relational trauma
Social isolation or low confidence
Previous reintegration attempts that have not succeeded
